People judge on the basis of appearance. Our conscience judges on the basis of our learned patterns of behavior. But God judges on the basis of our motives. Ultimately, it is His opinion that holds weight. It is His verdict that determines our eternal fate. In the end, God's judgment is all that matters.

"I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me." – 1 Corinthians 4:3-4

In whose court have you been seeking to be justified?

Every single day, you and I are facing three courts:

  1. The lower court of public opinion—what people think of you.
  2. The upper court of your conscience—what you think of you.
  3. And the supreme court—what God thinks of you.

In whose court have you been seeking to be justified? Take a few moments now to humble yourself before the God of all grace and reflect on where you may be currently living for man's approval, even your own, rather than your heavenly Father's smile. And in so doing, may you hear His loving voice say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
