NEW! FOR YOUR GIFT OF ANY AMOUNT

It's easy to get caught up in the superficial wonders of the Christmas season—gifts, parties, decorating, and more. While these are good and beautiful things, if that's all that stirs our hearts this Christmas, we are missing out on the true meaning of the Advent season, the meaning that fills our souls with hope and joy to sustain us in any and every trial. So let's take time to dive into the deepest wonder of the Christmas season: God with us.

Let's take time to dive into the deepest wonder of the Christmas season: God with us.

1) REFLECT ON GOD'S GIFT.

Read John 1:1-18 and Colossians 1:15-23.

From these passages we know that Jesus is God made flesh. What does it mean to you that God Himself came down to earth to secure your salvation and make you His child?

Write a prayer of thanksgiving as you marvel that the eternal God humbled Himself, taking on the form of a man and becoming obedient even to death on a cross (see Philippians 2:5-11), out of His love for you.

2) REJOICE IN JESUS.

Read John 10:10, Ephesians 2:1-10, and Colossians 3:1-17.

What did Jesus come to give you?

In light of the abundant and eternal life secured for you in Christ, how does God call you to live?

Ask the Lord to show you how He would have you practically serve Him this Christmas. Is He leading you to minister to a particular person or community?

3) INVITE OTHERS INTO THE TRUE WONDER OF CHRISTMAS.

Read Galatians 4:4-7 and Matthew 1:18-23.

Ask the Lord to grow your wonder of the miracle of Christmas—that God became flesh in order to adopt you as His heir.

As you rejoice in the gift of Jesus, share about God's gift of grace to the world with those around you. Make a list of people in your life that need to hear the Good News of God with us.

How might you invite these people to join you in celebration of the Advent of Christ? List some practical ways you can share the hope and joy of Christmas with them in this season, such as reading through an Advent study together, gathering to sing hymns, or inviting them to church services.

As you reflect on, rejoice in, and invite others to experience the wonder of God's presence, may joy and peace surround you this Christmas season and always.
