Evangelistic Celebration: Australia
Hope for the Illawarra
On March 28-29, 2025, God moved powerfully in Wollongong, Australia, as 7,800 people gathered to hear the Gospel at Leading The Way’s Hope for the Illawarra Evangelistic Celebration.
Less than a mile away from where he was ordained into ministry, Dr. Michael Youssef concluded the Celebration at WIN Entertainment Centre with a full venue of 3,600 people eager to hear the message of Truth. Thousands more tuned in as his message was broadcast, streamed, and translated into Arabic LIVE on our KINGDOM SAT TV Channel in the Middle East.
God stirred hearts in an extraordinary way, with 1,000 people responding to the Gospel invitation across the three-part event.
For Dr. Youssef, this moment marked a return to the land where God prepared him for ministry—where he attended seminary, met his wife, and later launched one of Leading The Way’s international headquarters.
We pray that what God ignited during Hope for the Illawarra through Dr. Youssef, Leading The Way, and local churches will fan into flame ongoing evangelism across the region!
Lives Transformed in the Illawarra
I will never forget the sound of the chairs flicking as youth in droves stood in response on Friday night
KarenLast night we had invited a young man who has been on the edge of faith for some time. He surrendered his life to Jesus. . . . This morning [someone else] messaged me to say that her husband had responded to the call to Jesus.
MichaelPraising God for three amazing events. They were beautiful. A taste of heaven. I believe the Illawarra will not be the same.

Churches Unified
Chris Makin, Director of Leading The Way Australia, shared, “This sense of unity has not happened before. Australia is post-Christian. We don’t now have a culture of going to church. . . . This Celebration is perfectly timed because there is a desire among the body of Christ to reach the local community who doesn’t know Jesus. Leading The Way has been a strong catalyst in this movement for unification.”

Awakening the Next Generation
Over half of those who responded to the Gospel were youth. One family shared, “We drove several hours to get here. We didn’t know where our teenage daughter was spiritually. Tonight, she stood up and walked up to the front on her own to say yes to Jesus.”
Another participant shared, “A number of international students went forward. When the song was on, they sang with enthusiasm. I asked them later, ‘Did you know the song before?’ They said no. They were singing a new song for their lives, ‘I have decided to follow Jesus.’ Praise You, God of wonders.”
