4 Ways Progressives Are Handing the West Over to Islamists

I’ve studied this for 50 years, and I’m telling you—they’re rolling out the red carpet.

If you think that threats to Western civilization come only from external enemies, think again. The reality is far more insidious—and it’s unfolding right before our eyes. In my new book An Unholy Alliance: How Progressivism Brought About an Islamist Invasion, I expose the Red-Green Alliance at work in our culture: radical Islam (Green) and Progressivism (Red), working hand in hand, reshaping societies in ways most Americans haven’t even begun to grasp.

This is Islam’s third jihad, by design. The first was military conquest in the 7^th-8th centuries. The second was Ottoman expansion from the 14^th-20th centuries. The third is now stealth: immigration, lawfare, education, demographics, and deception. It’s explicit in Muslim Brotherhood documents seized by the FBI. The strategy is public, but many Western leaders are ignoring it.

As a pastor and scholar with a PhD in cultural anthropology—my doctorate was on the topic of radical Islam—I’ve studied this phenomenon for 50 years. Here’s what you need to know.

#1 THE “RED-GREEN ALLIANCE” IS MAKING EXTREMISM MAINSTREAM.

Islamist ideology doesn’t look like the nightly news of the ’80s or ’90s. Today, it wears a mask of social justice. Through Progressive frameworks like intersectionality, critical race theory, and decolonization, extremism is being rebranded as activism. Islamists provide the ideology of resistance, while Progressives supply media cover, institutional access, and academic legitimacy.

In some American universities, speakers who openly praise Hamas or call for Israel’s destruction are now invited to teach “social justice” seminars. Their radical ideas are presented not as extremist propaganda, but as intellectual discourse about oppression and liberation, turning what should be fringe ideology into a normalized worldview. This is how extremism moves from the fringes into the heart of our culture.

# 2 OPEN-BORDER POLICIES ARE FUELING TODAY’S STEALTH JIHAD.

Most Muslims are not radical. But there are at least 160 million who are. They don’t need to be a majority to dominate politics or shift culture. Progressives’ open-door policies do it for them. Through unfettered immigration, strategic voting, and alliances with Progressives, they can influence entire cities, regions, and nations. This is what Islamic strategists call “stealth jihad.” This, combined with the fact that Muslim birth rates double that of non-Muslim families, makes way for communities like Hamtramck, Michigan, which is now America’s first majority-Muslim city.

Over 10 million border crossings have been recorded in the last 5 years, allowing radical networks to establish a foothold. When I immigrated to the United States in the 70s, I had to be interviewed, examined by an embassy doctor, confirm I had no police record, document that I’d paid my taxes, and sign an affidavit that I’d never been involved with the Communist Party. Today, Progressive open-door policies are bypassing these kind of safeguards, allowing Islamic infiltration under the guise of humanitarianism.

#3 POLITICAL ISLAM IS ADVANCING UNDER THE BANNER OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION.

Twenty‑five years after 9/11, a Muslim mayor now governs America’s most influential city. Across the UK, Muslim mayors also lead London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Luton, Oldham, and more—despite Muslims making up 6.5 percent of the population.

Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani rose to prominence in New York City campaigning on promises of socialism, equity, and inclusivity—yet he declined to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada,” a slogan at pro‑Palestinian rallies widely viewed as a call for violence against Jews.

This is how policies and priorities aligned with Islamist agendas slowly become normalized. Radical Islam advances through democratic systems, and if left unchecked, can later work to dismantle them.

#4 PROGRESSIVE LABELS OF “ISLAMOPHOBIA” AND “RACISM” ARE SILENCING LEGITIMATE CONCERNS.

In Texas, EPIC City (East Plano Islamic Center) is a 402-acre Islamic compound with housing, schools, mosques, medical facilities, and possible governance under Sharia law. Minnesota’s “Little Mogadishu,” parts of Michigan, and New Jersey are home to similar communities. When citizens express concerns about radical enclaves developing in their communities, they’re often dismissed as racist.

The Rotherham scandal in the UK revealed a grim reality: over 1,400 girls were trafficked by Muslim grooming gangs over decades. Investigations were suppressed by police and media due to fear of backlash and accusations of Islamophobia—and children paid the price.

When Truth is silenced in the name of political correctness, it emboldens predators—and the cost is often borne by the most vulnerable. Protecting them requires moral courage, even when the culture labels you intolerant.

THERE IS HOPE—BUT CHRISTIANS MUST RISE UP

Please hear me loud and clear: Appeasement will not stop today’s jihad. Moral clarity, courageous leadership, and faithful Gospel witness will. Right now, the West’s greatest vulnerability is the retreat of faithful Christianity from the public square.

There is an old prayer in the English prayer book we desperately need to revive: “Pray for the Church Militant here on earth.” When I say “militant,” I’m not talking about swords or guns—those are the “carnal weapons” (see 2 Corinthians 10:3-4) of the jihadists. Rather, like the early Church, we must be “militant” with our love and courage.

The first Christians were a persecuted minority who, in the face of threats, prayed not for comfort but for boldness (see Acts 4:29-30). Meanwhile, in the West, we don’t go to Church if it’s raining—or if we do, we complain about the coffee.

God has brought millions of people across our borders, including many Muslims, to hear the Truth of Christ. Are you ready to reach them? Those who leave Islam for Jesus risk everything.
