QUESTION:
"I am seeing people who once professed to be believers in Jesus turning their back on the faith."
ANSWER:
The greatest concern on my heart is that I am seeing people who once professed to be believers in Jesus turning their back on the faith. When I hear about pastors or music leaders who have preached good sermons and written great music, but who now say, "Well, I’m not really sure about my faith," that breaks my heart.
At the same time, as we draw closer to the return of Christ, there is going to be a great apostasy—so much so that Jesus Himself asked the question, "[W]hen the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8). That’s how difficult it’s going to be. So we shouldn’t be surprised. We are concerned because we love people and we want them to be saved, but we know that not everyone is going to be saved.
My encouragement to every believer is this: Stay strong, stay fixed and built upon the Word of God, and don’t be shaken by any of the things that are happening around us—because when these things happen, the Bible reminds us, "[L]ift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near" (Luke 21:28).
